About the Project
The Bus ConCiencia is a mobile laboratory that will take experimental workshops to the rural and impoverished schools of Chile.
Created by scientists with the help of education professionals, the Bus ConCiencia will be a transformative space where science teachers and students will be able to learn to experiment with materials that are recycled and easy to find.
They will use the scientific method and inquiry-based-learning to make discoveries on their own, which we hope will empower them and introduce them to ideas in the same way in which scientists experience discoveries. Then, we will give the teachers an instruction manual so they can reproduce these experiments by themselves in the future and show them to other teachers. The bus will take teacher trainings concerning experimentation to the rural impoverished schools, it will provide student workshops, and it will offer events called Ciencia en Cine for the local community.

Marcela Colombres is the Executive Director of the EcoScience Foundation, a scientific and environmental foundation that owns over 100,000 hectares of land in conservation, and is connected to Eduardo Ergas. The EcoScience Foundation and the Ciencia & Vida Foundation are the creators of the Bus ConCiencia.
