What is Good Pitch?
Good Pitch is an event that aims to encourage the use of film as an innovative tool in the promotion of social justice. It does this by finding allies for documentaries, and during the live event, getting them to commit to a partnership with the film, so that together they can use the film to build campaigns, bringing about positive changes.

What does "squared" in Good Pitch² Argentina mean?
BRITDOC Foundation are the founders of Good Pitch and run the flagship events. With increasing demand from around the globe, BRITDOC has developed the Good Pitch² satellite program to share their learning and build the capacity of regional organizations to host their own Good Pitch² events. This means, each host has to raise their own funds to cover production costs, training for filmmakers and the overall infrastructure of the event itself.
What you will be supporting is the travel costs of our filmmakers so that they can take advantage of this valuable platform that enables them the attention they deserve, be heard, and get the resources they need to promote issues as important as mining, forced sterilization, and many more.
That's why the finalists of Good Pitch² Argentina 2015 need your help to get to Buenos Aires Let's help their pitches shine bright, their voices be heard loud and clear and their messages be as direct as can be.

What we need:
Whilst we are able to cover the basic production and logistics costs for the two-day workshop (where filmmakers will be helped to finalize their social campaign) and the event itself (where the films and their campaigns will be pitched in front of a live audience), we need your help in getting the filmmakers to Buenos Aires.
Our teams selected this year are from around Latin America, from as far away from Buenos Aires as Colombia, Perú and Chile, and as independent documentary filmmakers, they have scant resources. We need your help to ensure that the filmmaking teams can attend the two-day workshop and event in Buenos Aires.

Meet the Good Pitch² Argentina 2015 finalists:
For the 2015 edition, four documentary film projects have been chosen from around the continent. Our selection process prioritized Latin American filmmakers, whose documentaries focus on the region’s most pressing social issues.
Here are the projects we've selected:
Sumercé (Colombia) - Mining and natural resources
Sumercé follows the stories of three Colombian campesinos of different generations on the frontline of the struggle against mining operations, which are endangering the existence of thousands of rural communities located in areas where the mining corporations want to operate.
Quipu (Peru) - Gender and forced sterilizations
Quipu tells the story of Esperanza, who is fighting for justice after being sterilized against her wishes 16 years ago. Esperanza is just one of 300,000 women and 20,000 men who were sterilized during the 1995-2000 Fujimori government, as part of a government policy that was promoted aggressively in rural, impoverished, and indigenous communities. It is now well-known that many women were coerced into the procedure or did not give full consent.
Grown Ups (Chile) - Disability and social integration
Grown Ups follows a group of adults aged between 40 and 50 who have Downs Syndrome. Many of them have never lived independently, and as their parents grow old and infirm, they decide they are tired of being treated like children.
Nueva Venecia (Colombia) - Community resistance
Nueva Venecia is a fishing community based in the middle of Colombia's biggest lake, which bears the scars of the country's internal conflict. But residents find an outlet through their shared passion for soccer, and tirelessly work to stop the pitch - and their community - from being swallowed up by the surrounding water.

Previous success - Good Pitch² Buenos Aires 2013:
The first Good Pitch in Latin America took place in Buenos Aires in August 2013, within the framework of the 15th International Human Rights Film Festival, run by IMDerHumALC. Four Documentary projects were selected and each filmmaking team took their film to the next level.
What was the impact of the first edition?
“Good Pitch was without doubt a milestone that has marked my future, both professionally and personally. Thanks to a recommendation by Good Pitch, our trailer was seen by over 600 thousand people in three weeks, and we managed to change the legislation that we had denounced in the documentary.” Marco Cartolano, Producer of ‘9.70’. Participant in Good Pitch² Argentina 2013 .

All four films were able to create a social campaign in our workshops and pin down meetings, alliances, participate in festivals and much more.
What's new with Good Pitch² Argentina 2015?
For this edition, the same team has partnered with the British Council Argentina to produce a second edition, building on the earlier successes. The event will take place at the Teatro Picadero (a renowned independent theater in Buenos Aires) on April 13th, 2015 and will be moderated by well-known Argentine director and actor, Boy Olmi.

What do our filmmakers get by participating?
The filmmakers will receive two days of invaluable training and feedback from Bruni Burres (Sundance), producer Paula Vacarro (Pinball London), producer Cristian Cardoner, and teams from the British Council to guide them in their social justice campaigns.
This will culminate in a live event in Teatro Picadero, where the teams will pitch their films to a round table of 8-10 potential partners and a handpicked audience of 200. These invitees come from a mixture of backgrounds, from NGOs and Foundations that work with the core issues of the films, to corporate brands, sponsors, philanthropists, and funders, as well as those from the more traditional world of film, from distributors and broadcasters to festivals.

What's the bigger picture?
The objective is to build mutually beneficial alliances between the filmmakers and the attendees, significantly helping the films reach a wide audience and consequent change of attitudes, behaviors, and decision-making about important social issues. The results of Good Pitch² Argentina 2013 have shown that, while such alliances are not yet the norm in Latin America, these partnerships have the power to bring about real change.
The next edition of Good Pitch² Argentina will take place in April 2015, at the same time as, although independent of, Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (Bafici). The workshops will take place on a Friday and Saturday, and the live event the following Monday.
Good Pitch² Argentina live streamed to our global community network
During Pitch Day, Good Pitch² Argentina is partnering with LSD Live to share the event with Good Pitch’s international network – and the public – via their live streaming platform. This will include interviews with filmmakers about what they have managed to achieve, and feedback from round table invitees and audience members during the coffee break and cocktail.
If we don't reach the 100% of the funding goal, we will use it to do the following:
-
With the 10%
By raising 10% of our goal, we will use the funds to cover a small percentage of one (1) ticket to Buenos Aires per filmmaking team (4 total), from their country in Latin America. It's important to keep in mind that each documentary project is pitched by at least its director and producer. Since there are a total of four selected projects, we need to cover flights for 8 filmmakers.
-
With the 25%
By raising 25% of our goal, we will use the funds to cover half of the total cost of one ticket to Buenos Aires per filmmaking team (4 total), from their country in Latin America. It's important to keep in mind that each documentary project is pitched by at least its director and producer. Since there are a total of four selected projects, we need to cover flights for 8 filmmakers.
-
With the 50%
By raising 50% of our goal, we will use the funds to cover the total cost of one ticket to Buenos Aires per filmmaking team (4 total), from their country in Latin America. It's important to keep in mind that each documentary project is pitched by at least its director and producer. Since there are a total of four selected projects, we need to cover flights for 8 filmmakers.
-
With the 75%
By raising 75% of our goal, we will use the funds to cover the TOTAL cost of one ticket to Buenos Aires AND HALF OF THE TOTAL COST OF A SECOND ticket per filmmaking team, from their country in Latin America. Keep in mind that each documentary project is pitched by at least its director and producer. Since there are a total of four selected projects, we need to cover flights for 8 filmmakers.
